Design Attic is now in Summer break
Design Museum invites visitors to catalogue and identify toys at Design Attic on the third floor of the museum on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The museum’s collection contains approximately 500 toys, most of which were designed and made in the 1950s. They include many toys by Finnish designers, which will also be on display in a special exhibition at Design Attic.
Design Museum has held three major exhibitions of toys: Tools of Play in 1979, a doll exhibition in 1995 (Barbies and other dolls from private collections, and The Century of the Child in 2015–2016, which also featured architectural design for children and playground furniture and equipment.
The museum has now curated a miniature toy exhibition at Design Attic under the direction of Curator Johanna Kiuru of Design Museum’s collections department.
Visitors to the Attic can also number, measure, date and evaluate material and finally package items according to museum standards with the assistance of a member of the museum staff.
