Spend a summer day at the Design Museum, rain or shine! There is something to see and do every day of the summer, both inside and around the museum. We are open extended Mon-Fri 11am-8pm and Sat-Sun 11am-6pm until the end of August.
Free guided tours to the main exhibition
Free guided tours to the Design Museum’s current exhibitions are held weekly during the summer in several different languages. The fascinating tours of the guides can deepen the experience of the exhibitions.

Design Evenings are also held in the summer on the last Tuesday of each month. The program for the evenings are on a summer break, but on the last Tuesday in July and August (July 26 and August 30) there is free admission to the museum from 4 to 8 pm.
Alusta Pavilion
A small piece of green oasis can be found in the summer courtyard between the Design Museum and the Museum of Finnish Architecture! The pavilion explores nature-culture relations and offers a place for relaxing and encounters between humans and non-human animals in urban space. Read about Alusta Pavilion here.
Night of the Arts
The Night of the Arts is celebrated at the Design Museum on Thursday 18 August. The museum is open late into the evening and admission to the exhibitions is free from 4pm to 10pm.
Design Helsinki
Design Helsinki fair offers a diverse program on design topics around Helsinki, such as talks in the Design Museum, installations in the Esplanadi park and gatherings in local design showrooms 24.-25.8. Read more about Design Helsinki here.
Taito Café
A tasty salad-soup lunch is served daily from 11 am. to 2 pm., including weekends! At Taito Café you will find freshly baked breads, pies and sweet pastries. The café also serves coffee from the local roastery, small breweries and organic wine.
Helsinki Living Streets
The Helsinki living streets are located in front of the Design Museum, offering a variety of cultural and artistic experiences for summer days and evenings. You can find the Living Streets events here.

In the Design Museum Shop you will find a great selection of Finnish and international design and books. Find high-quality summer souvenirs and beautiful design products for your own home.
ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES
Change Makers- a series of workshops on environmentally friendly thinking
In the workshop, located in the Alusta Pavilion, participants can reflect their own relationship with nature by shaping clay. Free workshops will be held on Saturday 23 July and 13.8.2022 from 1pm to 3pm, and you can jump in at any time.
Design workshop for families: Human figures
The joint workshop for the adult and the child we will work in the spirit of the exhibition Design for Every Body, and design our own human figures. Read more about Design Workshops and register here.
