NODUS TALKS series is organized by NODUS Sustainable Design Research Group of Aalto University, bringing together researchers and practitioners on topics relevant to design, innovation and sustainability. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion, both held in English. Free entry with registration.
The Diverse City
In this event, we will discuss how urban planning homogenizes cities, what impacts this has and what can be done about it.
HOSSAM HEWIDY is a lecturer and the head of architecture major in the master’s degree at Aalto University. He is an experienced architect and a town planner. His research interests include urban space, place-making, interplay of power, spatial justice, resilience, regional planning, and urban planning education.
KATJA LINDROOS is the co-founder of Urban Practice – an office for citymaking, that organizes events, such as Lähiöfest, Nordic CityMaking Week, and the People-Driven City conference. She is a regular guest lecturer at Aalto University and has authored multiple books on post-war housing and creativity.
GUY JULIER is a writer, curator and practitioner in an expanded field design. He has worked with cities and regions in addressing questions of design-led regeneration with particular foci on equalities and sustainability. He is Professor of Design Leadership at Aalto University.
