We are proud to host the Italian Design Days event once again 12 February 2025. The theme of the new edition of the Italian Design Day is “Inequalities. Design for a Better Life.”
The lecture will take place on February 21, 2025, at the Architecture & Design Museum (Korkeavuorenkatu 23, 00130 Helsinki) at 4 PM. The lecture will be in English. The event is free of charge and open to all.
The globally celebrated Italian Design Day, organized by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is being held for the ninth time this year. The theme for 2025 is âDisuguaglianze. Il design per una vita miglioreâ (Inequality. Design for a Better Life).
Aligned with this theme, the upcoming international exhibition at the Triennale Milano, Inequalities. How to Mend the Fractures of Humanity, will take place from May 13 to September 9, 2025.
This year, the Italian Design Day event, organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy, is dedicated to the renowned Italian design master Achille Castiglioni. In his honor, a lecture titled “If You Are Not Curious, Forget It”, inspired by Castiglioniâs famous saying, will be held. The eventâs patron and keynote speaker is Giovanna Castiglioni, Vice President and Curator of the Fondazione Achille Castiglioni.

Giovanna Castiglioni
Giovanna Castiglioni is the daughter of Achille Castiglioni. Born in Milan in 1972, she graduated as a geologist. In 2005, she decided to leave geology behind and dedicate herself entirely to preserving and promoting the legacy of her legendary fatherâs studio-museum. Giovanna has worked as the curator of the Achille Castiglioni studio-museum, and in 2012, she was appointed Vice President and Secretary General of the Achille Castiglioni Foundation. Today, she oversees and coordinates the foundationâs activities, with a particular focus on archiving its unique cultural heritage. Giovanna shares and promotes Castiglioniâs design methodology with diverse international audiences.
When giving lectures and workshops worldwide, she emphasizes dynamic interaction with her audience, always encouraging them to engage in âbrain gymnastics.â During these sessions, she enjoys sharing insights into her fatherâs prototypes, choices of names and materials, and family anecdotes related to his projects.
