During this guided walking tour, we’ll explore aesthetics, materials, and the societal conditions that shaped the development of modern architecture in Helsinki from the 1930s to 2018. The tour introduces participants to the city centre’s fascinating office buildings, department stores, educational institutions, and other public buildings.
Come and discover Helsinki’s modernism beyond the surface.
The tours are written by experts at the Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki and guided by museum educators familiar with the themes. The tours are part of the museum’s open summer 2025 architecture walk programme, exploring some of Helsinki’s most interesting urban and residential areas.
