Design Museum is public’s own Design Studio! The Museum’s guided tours with workshops introduce various aspects of design to visitors through the process of participation and individual work. Work by hand is often the best way to understand and learn new things. The workshops do not require previous experience in working with design or the required various tools.
Oswald and the objects – workshop for young children
Two different activity-based guided tours of the museum’s permanent exhibition are provided for day-care children (age 4 and above) and first and second-grade schoolchildren. Maijan matkassa (Design with Maija) presents the designer Maija Isola and her work, while Merkillinen muoto (Strange Shape) introduces children to the secrets of the famous Aalto or Savoy vase.

A Grasp of Design
Design Museum provides guided tours of the Finnish Form for different groups of visitors ranging from schoolchildren to adults. Presenting the history of Finnish design, the permanent exhibition offers many highly interesting perspectives on its subject. The tour introduces visitors to Finnish design and its various phenomena by allowing them to make objects and try their hand at different kinds of work. Prepare for Helsinki’s coming World Design Capital Year by taking an activity tour of Design Museum. Come with your school class or enjoy the company of a workshop group.

Bookings for workshop visits must be made no later than two weeks in advance. The price includes an activity-related guided visit and supervised workshop activities with materials.
